About Us The desire to re-light the Baxterseminary.org website was doused with fuel after learning that the Titanic Bible, the only known Bible that survived the sinking of the Titanic, was on display in the library of Baxter Seminary for multiple decades! This was coupled with the need to determine the number and to identify family veterans who took courses after World War II at Baxter Seminary on the G. I. Bill. This information was needed to make sure that their names and branch of service would be included in the memorial being constructed to honor them at the new Upperman High school. Information sources began to fall into place as existing sources were recalled and new sources were being discovered. It was as if a treasure map was being tied with an Easter Egg hunt to glean and gain insight into where to look and where to find out about the operations and history of Baxter Seminary. As the information began to tell who and what Baxter Seminary was, the discovery of the Titanic Bible story, while huge in itself, paled in the light of the emerging Baxter Seminary story. It was almost as if one were reading a great book of fiction or watching a tremendous movie with a cast of true A-list Movie Stars! But the best thing about it was that it was real! While it is close to a labor of love, there is a tremendous desire to convey to others the knowledge about this truly awesome school called Baxter Seminary. It is to be a chronicle of who, what, when, and how students and faculty worked together to survive and succeed! There are several books that provide Baxter Seminary history and stories. The authors of these works indirectly contributed to the building of this historical account and picture of Baxter Seminary. The bibliography contains references and links to these and other works that provided much needed information. General release version 1.0 was completed on March 31, 2021. The re-lighting of the Baxter Seminary website has begun. Photo: 1957 Baxter Seminary Highlander - Digital Baxter Seminary Yearbooks 1934-1960 by Mike and Audrey Lambert www.ajlambert.com |
